About

The Best Financing in the Country

Southern AgCredit is a full-service, locally owned cooperative lender that specializes in helping people like you buy and enjoy land in the country.  This land is often used for agriculture, such as crop, cattle and poultry farming as well as timberland and other uses related to agribusiness and recreation. Likewise, we often finance land improvements as well as country homes, farm structures, equipment & vehicles, poultry houses, tractors and a wide variety of other agricultural equipment.

Rule of thumb? If it’s got anything to do with the country, we can finance it for you—with a level of rural expertise that’s hard to find at other lenders.

But our expertise doesn’t stop there. We also make loans for rural hunting and fishing camps, country homesteads and a wide variety of rural investment property. So if you’ve always dreamed of owning a quiet piece of rural real estate—you’ve come to the right place!

We are proud to hold the largest portfolio of rural real estate loans in Mississippi where we serve the southernmost fifty of the state’s eighty-two counties, in addition to the eleven parishes of Northwest Louisiana.

Roots in Farm Credit

Southern AgCredit was founded in 1916 when the federal government established the national Farm Credit System to give rural farmers better access to working capital. Today, we remain a primary lender for farmers, ranchers and other agribusinesses throughout our territory – but we now serve more than the agricultural community. We provide financing and expertise for the purchase of rural land for recreational pursuits such as hunting or fishing camps, country homesteads and much more.

The History of Federal Land Banks

Since President Woodrow Wilson signed legislation creating the Federal Land Bank System in 1916, Farm Credit has evolved into the dynamic network of 73 independent institutions that serve all 50 states and Puerto Rico.

This rich history has helped us build an extraordinary depth of understanding of rural credit needs. We appreciate the challenges and opportunities for agriculture and more specifically for the individual crop sectors and livestock breeds.

Today, we support infrastructure providers and farmers by helping to keep American agriculture competitive in global markets and our rural communities viable and thriving.

Our mission to support rural communities and agriculture with reliable, consistent credit and financial services remains just as critical today as it was more than 100 years ago.
